OUR PROGRAMS

 

  • Calvert's ABC Pre-School and Nursery, Inc. offers child care services for children between the ages of six weeks to 12 years of age. 

  • We also offer a before and after school program for public school age children. Parents are able to drop their child/ren off in the the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. 

  • The center will transport the children to public school and pick them up in the afternoon.  The children are provided with an afternoon snack.  

  • Staff also assist children with their homework.  We are open -year round with a summer enrichment program in the summer. 



 

Academic Enrichment for Infant- Three-Year Olds...
 
  • The Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines is the curriculum that is followed to help children birth-3  years to learn and grow in language, to practice and master basic concepts and skills in self-help, mathematics, and science, as well as social-emotional and physical development.

 
  • The planned studies at the center include science, math, lanaguage, arts, writing, games, stories, fine and gross motor.  Other activities are provided to develop fine and gross motor skills, eye-hand coordination, attention span, and listening skills.

 
  • ​​We understand that each child is different in his or her ability to learn, therefore, goals are shaped and reshaped to meet the child's individual needs. We are striving to help each child become self-confident in school.

Academic Enrichment for the Pre-Kindergarten Class....
 
  • The center offers a Pre-Kindergarten Program in collaboration with Gilmore Early Learning Initatives, Inc. The program that is used is a research-based early learning curriculum called "Opening the World of Learning" (OWL) which covers Mississippi Department of Education Pre-K Early Learning Standards.

 

  • The OWL is a wide-ranging curriculim that covers all domains of early learning.  It is a strong research-based that develops language and literacy skills through rich, integrated content.

 

  • All classes will have assess to computer based technology to support students in developing skills and concepts in math and early literacy.

 

  • Child centered instruction primarily through the use of learning centers featuring hands-on learning based on monthly curriculum units of study.

 

  • Weekly and monthly parent newsletters and monthly parent meetings.

 

  • At least, four parent conferences a year to discuss a child’s progress based on the results of several on-going assessment measures.
